First look: A Compendium of Irish Pints
My books have arrived so I thought I'd share a look inside...
Hello from a very warm Washington D.C. I’m here on a press trip, arriving yesterday but I’m already enamoured as I nearly always am with any US city. I find them endlessly fascinating, I think perhaps a result of a very heavy American television obsession for as long as I can remember. I don’t think I’m alone in that…
I’ll be writing about this trip for the Irish Times in a few weeks and I hope it will be full of delicious finds. I’m looking forward to visiting Julia Child’s kitchen at the Smithsonian today and checking out as much American chardonnay and IPAs as I can…
Speaking of beers - this week in lieu of your usual food news I’m sharing instead a sneak peek of my soon-to-be-published book A Compendium of Irish Pints. There are two pages below with illustrations by Stephen Heffernan (Hephee). It’s all feeling very real now! 🫢 The books are printed and have landed in Ireland, and while I’m away my sisters are at the post office picking up my first delivery (sending me videos see below). I am so so nervous about seeing it in real life, it’s exciting sure, but also nerve-wracking and surreal.
Here ya go…
So what’s the verdict? Please do let me know!
The publishing date is May 7th, if you want to preorder which is great for my first-week sales, you can do so directly from Nine Bean Rows or order from your favourite independent bookshop. I’m not usually one for recommending Amazon but have to say I’m chuffed to see the book is currently number 9 in the top ten beer books - so if you have ordered from there, or indeed anywhere THANK YOU!
